Dear Good Shepherd Family and Friends,

I am truly in awe of what our community has been able to accomplish in the past year since the GSS School Board first identified the need for an updated and accessible outdoor play space for our students.  Thus began the Dream Big, Play Bigger Capital Campaign - the first campaign of its magnitude in Good Shepherd School history.

A committee of teachers was formed to brainstorm and plan the perfect outdoor play space where all of our students could grow and thrive.  Next, a capital campaign fundraising committee was created and they worked diligently to develop a plan to reach our goal of $300,000 so our vision could become a reality by August 2024.  What happened over the course of the year as our community rallied together to support a wide variety of events to bring this project to fruition was nothing short of magical!

My sincere thanks goes out to the School Board members and the teacher playground committee for getting this project off the ground and to the Capital Campaign committee members who saw it through to its finish!  And of course to the generous donors who made the conscious decision to invest in the gift of play for our Good Shepherd students.

All of us at Good Shepherd School truly appreciate the many ways you all support our school - we are blessed with the most amazing community!

In Gratitude,

COMING AUGUST 2024...

We are excited to be working with All Recreation to design an outdoor space that will appeal to every child that Good Shepherd serves.  The new playground will include apparatuses and equipment for building large motor muscles through climbing and sliding as well as offer pieces that will encourage and promote brain development and imaginative play.  Special attention was given to integrating accessibility features such as transfer landings and a level play surface.  The play space will also include a large open area for running, playing games, and riding bikes.

"Play is often talked about as if it was a relief from serious learning, but for children, play IS serious learning.

Play really is the work of childhood."
